District Cinema: A student film festival

2019 Date TBD

District Cinema aims to screen and premiere short films created by students studying in the DMV area. We hope to give students in the capital area an artistic drive and voice that inspires creativity and excellent storytelling. We accept films of all genres and curate based off of entries.

Sponsored by Delta Kappa Alpha Nu Chapter, the gender-inclusive national cinema fraternity, a team of film students pre-screens all films before sending off the top films for faculty review. Our students program the day of the festival based off of submissions. The top films will screen in an evening gala and will receive awards from our faculty of jurors. Films screened during our day-time program will receive an audience choice award.

  • The submitted film must follow these guidelines:

  • Under 30 minutes long

  • Directed or produced by a student enrolled in a college or university in the DMV area

  • Made within the last 12 months

  • Max 2 submissions per category

  • We encourage subtitles (even if the film is in English)

  • All genres accepted

  • No copyrighted material
